The Barnett name has been part of the White Bear Lake and Twin Cities auto dealer scene for more than 50 years. Through all those decades, their sales staff has remained committed to making the customer’s auto buying experience the best it can be. It’s working; they’re a family business now on their third generation.

Goal:

Barnett Chrysler had all sorts of lights to retrofit; 4′ 2-lamp, 3-lamp and 4-lamp fixtures as well as Ubends and various metal halides. But the main focus was on the 140+ 1000W metal halide fixtures as these were huge energy burners and trouble to do maintenance on. They needed an LED solution that would save energy yet match or exceed the light levels that the 1000W HID provided.

A complete LED retrofit took place at Barnett as the 4′ linear fixtures were replaced with Type B LED T8 tubes, lower-watt metal halide fixtures were replaced with LED wallpacks, and the 1000W metal halides were replaced with 210W LED Area lights. Energy levels were reduced 80% yet light levels improved 35%! With the help of significant rebates, the lighting project was slated for payback in less than half a year.
