Customer Profile:
Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin began in 1976 with a small but faithful group of members. We started as a small, dedicated group but have had continued growth in the community to today with a congregation full of wonderful people following God’s lead.
Goal:
The sanctuary at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church featured pendants and cans with 250W quartz lamps, and 500W quartz lamps in stage track lights. These used up a lot of energy in addition to creating excess heat and burning out quickly. The church was hoping to find a dimmable LED solution that could replace the light output while maintaining the warm look of the halogens.
Before: 250W-500W Quartz Halogen
After: 30W LED PAR38 2700K
Results:
Premier opted for retrofit kits with 30W 2700K dimmable LED bulbs to replace the quartz halogens. This allowed them to save over 90% on energy costs while improving light quality and continuing the same warm look. Given the huge energy savings, the church was set to reach payback on their investment in just over a year!

I am working on the same situation at our church. Hope to replace 24 down-hanging cylinders with 250 or 500W halogen lights with LEDs. Just one test so far, and it failed due to flickering of the LED assembly, drove our pianist nuts! One must be very careful in qualifying LED sources. After that we plan to replace all the 1985 Theatre lighting with modern LEDs and controls.
Great website! Thanks!
Mr. Houskamp I have the EXACT same situation as you. What did you find as possible LED replacement to the hanging cylinder with 500W halogen light?
