We often go over common lighting applications such as offices, warehouses, gyms, garages and more. But what about prisons, naval ships, city centers and other gov’t buildings? They may have similar types of light sources that we normally see, like linear tubes, wallpacks and highbays. But one key difference you will note in these applications is often times they call for TAA compliant LED lighting.
If you are unfamiliar, TAA compliance means that the lights are made or assembled in the USA or another TAA designated country. For example, Keystone Technologies has a whole lighting category of USA-made LED tubes as well as Made-in-Mexico LED fixtures. These products qualify under the United States Trade Agreement Act (TAA) of 1979, consequently they are often specified by federal agencies or the U.S. military for large scale LED upgrades.
Keystone’s USA made LED tubes are available in 2′, 3′ or 4′ lengths. 4′ lengths come in the lower watt 10.5W 1600-1700 lumens or get the 18.5W 2600 lumen version to vastly improve light levels over fluorescent counterparts. All are in ballast bypass mode.
Be sure to also check out their TAA Compliant LED Fixtures as they have put forth their latest technology into their TAA fixtures. This includes power and color selectability, as well as control options including microwave sensors or go with their SmartLoop Bluetooth Mesh system for full-scale controls.
For indoor fixtures, they have color & power selectable backlit panels in 2×2 and 2×4 sizes as well as 2′ linear highbays in 105W/90W/65W or 215W/175W/135W. Or if you like the round highbay style, they have these in 150W, 200W or 400W for replacing up to 1000W HID! These fixtures have all the mounting options you could need as well as emergency battery backup and wire guards for the highbays.
For outdoor fixtures, Keystone has TAA compliant LED Wallpacks and TAA LED Floods. The good news with these is that they do the TAA floods in the lower watt 15W and 60W but also the 290W which can double as an LED area light replacement. For TAA wallpacks, Keystone has a 20W LED wallpack and a 75W LED wallpack. Like the other fixtures, these are color-selectable for choosing the color on the fixture itself and power-selectable as well.
One thing we have learned with LED lighting, if there is demand, the manufacturers will make it. We are getting more requests for TAA lighting in recent years and Keystone is stocking the relevant lights accordingly. It is not just federal buildings either, many businesses are opting for the USA-made TAA compliant lights to support the movement. Pricing is higher of course on the TAA compliant lights but with some lighting categories the increase is less than others.
